Our team is excited to share with you the soft launch of Makr.io, the simplest tool for creative collaboration on the web.
As part of the Y2K generation, the Internet is in our blood; we have watched it grow and change from the bare-bones structures of Web 2.0 to the flourishing social web of today. And while the World Wide Web is certainly a different place today than when it started, one thing hasn’t changed - it connects people. There is something astonishing about a world wide web - connecting people all over the world with ideas, information, and modes of expression.
When we first started Makr.io, our goal was to give people a more meaningful way to connect with others than a traditional social network. A way to not only absorb all the ideas and information available on the Internet, but to be generative with them. To be creative with them, and build on them.
Makr.io provides that outlet for creativity; it is a space to for the makers of the world to share ideas - no matter how big or small. There are all types of creativity, and we see endless potential to harness that creativity on the web.
Our “Makr Manifesto” expresses why we do what we do:
1. Ideas are a collaborative process.
2. No idea is too small to grow into something great.
3. Build up, don’t tear down.
4. Remix is the highest form of flattery.
5. Ideas are open to everyone
6. Have Fun.
For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, you know this is certainly not the first or last version of Makr, and we thank you for your much-needed feedback and patience - we could not move forward without you.
We are excited to grow this project with you, and look forward to seeing what you create.
